About

I’m Imogen Elizabeth and I graduated in 2018 from Chelsea College of Arts, UAL, where I studied Fine Art. I’ve always loved working with clay from using it in school to dedicating my degree show to it. In the summer of 2017 I took a course at the Bernard Leach Pottery in St Ives where I spent 3 days learning to throw on the wheel. From then on I fell in love!

My Grandma was a potter’s assistant when she was younger. She bought me my pottery wheel the year before she died, so it’s very special to me. I struggled to get a post graduate job and started working for a local potter who became my lovely friend and mentor. My first drop went live in September 2020 and i’ve been selling ever since. <3

I’m dyslexic and I’ve always been creative, I used to make mini exhibitions in my parents home so I’m very grateful to have this as my job.

My ceramics are made from a Porcelain Stoneware clay body which are initially bisque fired, cooled and then ready to be glazed. The glazes are all made by myself and fired to 1260oC. It’s always quite difficult to tell someone how long it takes to make a piece. The literal process to make one mug takes roughly 4 weeks from start to finish but it also involves the training, my time, my many mistakes and my learning. It’s a labour of love and each piece is made by my hands.

Extras

I love house plants, knitting, travelling/visiting new places and a really good ramen! My favourite song ever is Fall Creek Choir Boys by James Blake & Bon Iver.
